On Thursday (May 18), the super-producer surprised statistics graduates at the University of California, Berkeley, when he popped up to perform his triumphant anthem “All I Do Is Win.”
The performance, which followed entrepreneur Steve Stoute’s commencement address, was accompanied by a speech from Khaled.
“I didn’t come out here to do a concert,” he said. “I came to praise the young kings and queens for graduating today. This is amazing. I ain’t graduate myself, so this is the closest thing to graduating for me too.”
But of course, Khaled didn’t leave without dropping some major keys for the graduating class. “This is so inspiring and such a motivational situation today,” he said. “They didn’t believe in me at one time in my lifetime, but I had to bet on myself and look at me now. I’m on the stage with young kings and queens and the generation of geniuses that’s gonna run the world…They don’t want us to graduate, so we gon’ graduate!”
Afterwards, Khaled celebrated the occasion with a post on social media. “Thank you @stevestoute for bringing me out at your commencement speech for UC Berkeley Statistics Graduates,” he wrote. “Congrats to the young world the world is yours @nas voice!”
After topping the charts and going gold with his Justin Bieber, Quavo, Lil Wayne, and Chance the Rapper-assisted “I’m the One,” Khaled is prepping the release of Grateful, the follow-up to last year’s Major Key.
