All
the Kenyan acts that had been nominated for 2012 BEFFTA Awards in the
UK missed out on clinching the titles in their respective categories as
the ceremony took place in London over the past weekend.
Nameless, Nonini and Camp Mulla had been nominated in various
categories alongside other African and British musicians, artistes and
actors for the prestigious Black Entertainment Film, Fashion, Television
and Arts (BEFFTA) Awards.
Nameless and Nonini had been nominated in the category ‘Best
International Afrobeats Act’ alongside WizKid, DBanj, Wande Coal,
Zahara, Iyanya, Chameleon, Ice Prince, Fally Ipupa, Sarkodie, Uganda’s
Juliana and ‘Azonto Dance’ sensation Tiffany. They however lost out to
Uganda’s Juliana.
Camp Mulla was in contention for the ‘Best International Act’ Category but lost the bragging rights to Ruff Kid.
“I’m extremely happy to see BEFFTA fulfilling it’s purpose and the
purpose being honouring and celebrating a truly talented and
hard-working community. People came together to network and appreciate
each other’s accomplishments. I’m so grateful for everyone that
attended, at BEFFTA awards everyone is special.” said BEFFTA founder
Pauline Long.
The prestigious 4th annual BEFFTA awards UK took place in London on
27th October at a glittering red carpet award ceremony attended by
personalities in entertainment, film, fashion, television and Arts.
Among the stars on the night were Sir Trevor McDonald, Lemar, Catwalk
professor, footballer Fabrice Muamba, singer and X factor star Starboy
Nathan.
