Camp Mulla Give Us a Glimpse of Their Hot New Album

Hip hop group, Camp Mulla, held a listening party for their new album, FuNKYToWN, at Taurus Gardens.
Save for one song, they concentrated on unreleased material from the new album. Shappaman Kass explained how Nairobi's funkyness inspired their debut album, "We once saw this cool guy on the road. He looked like a guy we would know but we didn't."

The group members took turns to explain inspiration behind the music. It started of with The MC (Taio Tripper) presenting the album title track, Funkytown followed by Karun who presented the inspirational Papeyo (Don't Ever Give Up) sampling Zanaziki before they performed both tracks.
K'Cous was next for Sunday Swagg, which he explained was a sample of a track by The Spinners which he really liked before urging the attendees to listen to the original. Then Taio introduced a song which he said was the group's personal favorite.

"The song samples tunes from one of the best bands in Africa, Just-A-Band. If you were keen enough to listen to Tingiza Kichwa at the end, you'll know what I'm talking about." They then proceeded to perform the jazzy Where Do You Come From?

The MC also presented their latest release, a collaboration with Nigeria's WizKid, Prices. Karun presented the last track, End of the Night, which she described as Party Don't Stop Part II.
FuNKYToWN was released on September 22nd and is available in Nakumatt and Text Book Center for only Kshs. 250.
