Last week Rihanna visited the ‘Rich & Kat Show’ on London 95.8 Capital FM to promote her upcoming album, ‘Loud’. During the interview the serial eardrum killer revealed some details about her new collaboration with Hip-Hop sensation Nicki Minaj and even shared the title of the song. Peep what Rihanna had to say below:
She has a great buzz and she has a ‘thing’ to her. She is a star and that’s why people love her. She’s also really entertaining with her visual as well as her lyrics and she has a great melody. I’m really amazed that she can write like that. [Nicki] not only raps but she can write songs too. It was really easy actually. We were going back on forth with the texts on how we were going to get to do it because we were in two different places and had two opposite schedules.
You know I worked with her before on ‘Rated R‘ and she was just writing me some really good ballads and I couldn’t wait to work with her again and finally have her on my record. It’s a really fun song. It’s called ‘Raining Men’. No, nothing like the original. It’s quite up-tempo but kind of quirky and funny.” {Source}
As Rihanna stated herself, she must have been really “amazed” to see that some artists actually contribute to the creative process of their music and have the ability to do more than walk into the vocal booth and squeal at the microphone. The experience of being in the presence of someone with actual talent must have been almost too much for her to handle.
I wonder if she learned something from the entire ordeal other than where Minaj buys her wigs? Probably not.
Sidebar: As everyone may have notice by now, Rihanna’s ‘Loud’ album is comprises mainly uptempo Pop songs. So much for her not wanting to make "generic"records. What happened to her being an “expressive” and edgy “rock star”? Oops, sorry, I forgot that was last year’s marketing gimmick. Silly me.
