Nicki Minaj will not take the stand and testify for her brother who is accused of raping his 11-year-old stepdaughter in 2015.
According to TMZ, Nicky never planned to take the stand in defense of
Jelani Maraj, 38. The gossip tabloid claims Maraj’s legal team lied
when they told news outlets she was on their witness list.
Maraj’s defense lawyer said Nicki would testify that the alleged victim’s mom tried to extort her for $25 million.
Nicki is very close to her older brother. She paid $30,000 for his wedding and she is footing his substantial legal bills.
But apparently she draws the line at throwing away her rap career for a pedophile — even if he is her beloved brother.
The evidence is stacked against Maraj, who was arrested in December
2015. Prosecutors say Maraj raped his now 14-year-old stepdaughter as
often as 4 times a week.
The alleged victim’s 10-year-old brother testified on Monday that he walked in on Maraj raping his sister in a basement bedroom in 2015.
He described seeing his sister’s pants down “around her ankles,” and his stepfather’s underwear was “close to his knees.”
The boy said Maraj beat him and warned him not to tell what he saw.
On Thursday, a forensic expert testified that semen found on the alleged victim’s pajama bottom was “consistent” with Maraj’s.
A child abuse expert testified that the sixth-grader’s medical exam proves she was penetrated.
“I can say with a reasonable degree of certainty that (the girl’s)
medical exam can prove penetration,” said Dr. Aaron Miller, who studied
photos taken during an examination of the girl’s genital area.
Maraj faces 15 years to life if convicted.
