Rihanna’s Movie ‘Valerian’ Disappoints In 5th Spot
Queen Latifah‘s female-bonding movie Girls Trip
landed the #2 spot at the box office this past weekend. The movie about
4 girlfriends taking a trip to the annual Essence Music Festival in New
Orleans raked in $31.2 million.
Universal’s Girls Trip, which also stars Jada Pinkett Smith, Regina Hall and Tiffany Haddish, beat out Spider-man: Homecoming for the 2nd spot on 1,539 less screens.
Coming in a disappointing 5th was Cara Delevingne and Rihanna‘s Sci-Fi action thriller Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. War for Planet of the Apes edged out ‘Valerian’ for the #4 spot.
War film Dunkirk was the #1 movie in America this past weekend with an estimated $50.2 million in ticket sales.
Despicable Me, Baby Driver, The Big Sick, Wonder Woman and Wish Upon rounded out the top ten movies at the box office this past weekend.
