Jennifer Hudson and Ma$e take fans back to the ’90s with their newest collaboration “Mr. DJ,” and its throwback-inspired music video.
The song and visual promote Sandy Wexler, Adam Sandler’s upcoming film, set to debut on Netflix this month. Hudson is set to star in the movie as Courtney Clarke opposite Sandler, who takes on the film’s titular character.
“Mr. DJ’s” video is essentially a trailer for the film, showcasing Wexler as a talent agent in the 1990s. Clarke becomes his superstar client, and she gets a little help in the studio from Ma$e and Babyface on the way to making a chart-topping smash.
Like many Sandler films, the movie is set to feature a host of celebrity cameos. Those stars also appear in the J-Hud video, including Arsenio Hall, Kevin James, and Terry Crews.
This isn’t Hudson’s first film, of course. Her credits include Dreamgirls, Chi-Raq, and Black Nativity. Meanwhile, Sandy is part of a wider Sandler deal with Netflix that includes previous films The Ridiculous 6 and The Do-Over.
Sandy Wexler hits Netflix April 14.
