Texas Ebola Patient Dies

Thomas Duncan
Thomas Eric Duncan, the Liberian Ebola patient who the first case of Ebola diagnosed on U.S. soil, has died.
“He fought courageously in this battle,” the hospital said in a statement.” Our professionals, the doctors and nurses in the unit, as well as the entire Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas community, are also grieving his passing. We have offered the family our support and condolences at this difficult time.”

Duncan’s condition was downgraded to critical as his internal organs began to fail over the weekend. Doctors gave Duncan antiviral medication via IV about a week after he was admitted to Texas Presbyterian hospital on Sept. 28.
Duncan was discharged from the same hospital on Sept. 24 when he arrived in the ER with a low grade fever.
The news of Duncan’s death comes after word that an American doctor who survived Ebola donated his antibody-rich blood to a NBC cameraman this week.
