Keys, whose second child with husband Swizz Beatz is due in December, covers her breasts with a peace sign painted on her belly in the photo, shot by Mark Seliger.
“I want to gather an army,” Keys told The New York Times. “It’s time to get people’s attention. People won’t be able to ignore this visual.”
Her new single “We Are Here” was inspired by recent events including Michael Brown’s shooting and unrest in the Middle East, and she promises that her new music will do more to address racism, injustice, and poverty.
Keys is donating $1 million of her own money and she hopes that her fans will also contribute. For more information, visit WeAreHereMovement.com.
