It is common knowledge that the media should not publish the
identity of minors that may be involved as victims, perpetrators
participants or witnesses of an infringement, misdemeanor or felony.
The Nation Media Group found itself under heat after the conglomerate
was accused of publishing photos of minors who had been arraigned in a
Muranga court late last year.To make matters worse the media house
refused to respond to high court orders to defend itself, this is
according to Jackal News.
The media group had been charged alongside other media bigwigs such as the Standard newspaper, Kenya Television Network, NTV, the Royal Media Services and Thika -road based media house Good News Broadcasting Services. The outraged parents to one of the minors had moved to court earlier this year complaining that their children's rights had been desecrated. The judge then ordered the accused to defend themselves or pay up,a whopping 35 Million!Everyone complied except NMG and it is alleged that they could be forced to pay 35 million shillings!
