Drake’s ‘Nothing Was The Same’ Rated C- by SPIN Editors

Drake Given a C minus
Drake’s third album Nothing Was The Same leaked online Sunday night — a week ahead of its official release date.
SPIN magazine’s editors gave the disc a listen, then graded the album on Drake’s lyrical content, quality of production, narcissism, bragging, gay-baiting, and just about everything but his music.
Julianne Escobedo Shepherd was the most harsh in her criticism.

Giving Drake a 4 out of a possible 10, she lit into the Canadian rapper for “bragging about Ellen Degeneres’ love for his music,” and accusing him of hoping “to get the Macklemore treatment.” Macklemore is a rapper whose track “same Love” became the summer’s gay-anthem despite the gays accusing the rap group of exploiting the gay community.
“Drake is not very good at rapping because he just doesn’t try very hard,” wrote Brandon Soderberg, who agreed with Juliane’s assessment of Drake’s “new romanticism given way to deflective narcissism.”
“Not every person you ever put your dick in or tried to put your dick in has to be “supportive” of you,” writes Soderberg. “You should be happy for Courtney who worked at Hooters who you were in love with or whatever, who is about to get married to some other dude, you dick.”
Average Score 6.16 (C-)
