President Mandela ‘Madiba’ is alive contrary to rumours on social
media during the weekend that he had passed away. The Former South
African President and Anti-apartheid icon is now in the hospital for the
third day after being hospitalised on Saturday with a lung infection.
This is the fourth time the icon has been hospitalised since December
and through a statement, the South African Presidency has confirmed
this;
“Former President Nelson Mandela remains in hospital, and his condition is unchanged,”
Yesterday was a sad day for South Africans who came together to pray for Madiba after coming to terms with the fact that the icon is indeed mortal and ailing. His friend and former jailmate Andrew Mlangeni who is 87 years old had this to say;
“We wish Madiba a speedy recovery, but I think what is important is that his family must release him,”
“Once the family releases him, the people of South Africa will follow. We will say thank you, god, you have given us this man, and we will release him too,
This has elicited mixed reactions with people on the social media, churches and on the streets still expressing hope and continuing to pray for him with faith that the Nobel Laureate will pull through. Mandela’s lungs were damaged during the 27 years he served as a political prisoner.He was South Africa’s first black President and he spearheaded the struggle against White-minority rule.
Lets all take a moment to pray for this great man and ask God to give him strength; The Niaje team Wishes Madiba a speedy and full recovery.
