The Office of Public Communications and Government Spokesperson in collaboration with Raspberry Adams and several other bodies to organize a massive Peace Festival at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) grounds on February 24th.
As the country approaches crucial national elections, this important
occasion of the Peace Festival is only the first in a series of other
events scheduled to be held as part of the “47 Counties, One Kenya”
campaign which brings together several initiatives sponsored by various
public and private organizations in the country. The festival in Nairobi will also act as a platform for established local entrepreneurs to showcase their products and services that often provide basic and useful influences to our culture and are a great source of pride for our country. It will also bring groups of youth from different counties in Kenya to help promote the message togetherness and diversity in culture.
Creative and performing artists and musicians who are supporting the initiative comprise a total of 50 singers and songwriters as well as 50 DJs. Among those set to perform at the festival are P-Unit, Octopizzo, Headbangerz, DJ Kuzi, Mbusih and National Museums of Kenya. Several top Kenyan fashion designers and photojournalists will also use the occasion to showcase their work.
The event will be held at KICC on the 23rd and 24th of February from 12.00 p.m. on Saturday till 6.00 p.m. on Sunday. We chose KICC as the venue because it was where the post-election violence was triggered, and it will be where peace building will start.
One of the important activities at the festival will be a pledge taken by various leaders to maintain peace and tranquility during the forthcoming elections. During this period as Kenya prepares for elections, it is important to do all that is possible to foster peace, togetherness and kindness towards one another.
There will be a ceremony in which a pledge is taken by all attending in front of the Commissioner of Oath to uphold peace during the festival targeting more than 10,000 people. Together let’s make Kenya a country of Peace, Love and Unity. Entry is a Kenyan flag.
