Monica, Usher, Jay-Z, Kris Kross, Bow Wow & More Perform At So So Def’s 20th Anniversary Concert

There was a lot of love in Atlanta this past weekend as celebrities hit the stage to help Jermaine Dupri celebrate So So Def’s 20th Anniversary at the historic Fox Theatre. In case anyone has forgotten how much of an impact JD has made on the music scene in the ATL, artists like Xscape, Kris Kross, Jagged Edge and Bow Wow were a huge reminder of how many acts were bred under the So So Def imprint.

Highlights of the night included performances from Xscape (sans Kandi and Tiny), Dem Franchize Boys who performed, “Oh I think they like me” and Bow Wow who pulled a girl on stage during his performance of “Like You.” Jagged Edge performed “Let’s Get Married and “Where The Party At” with Nelly, and Usher performed a surprise set that included, “Yeah,” “Confessions” and “Lovers & Friends” with Ludacris and Lil Jon.

Monica, came out to ‘Love all over me’ a record that most people didn’t know JD wrote. The two talked about their friendship, working together, and both being from College Park while onstage. SHE BLEW IT DOWN! There were also surprise performances by Jeezy and Jay-Z who joined Jermaine Durpi for “Money Ain’t A Thing” as well as “PSA,” “N-ggas In Paris” and “Clique.”
Before the show wrapped, JD expressed his love for Atlanta while saying that people kept telling him to do the So So Def 20th Anniversary concert in LA or New York but he had to tell them, “NO!” He’s from Atlanta and if he was going to do anything, it would be in his hometown.

At the end of the night, Mariah Carey presented JD with a 20th anniversary cake. Jermaine Dupri produced the majority of her 2004 #1 album The Emancipation of Mimi, which included three singles that topped the Billboard Hot 100.
