AkonThis must be the most giving, most selfless and
humble international artiste that has performed in Kenya so far. Akon
gave a thrilling performance at the Carnivore grounds on Saturday and
left fans satisfied to the max.
His music is not all that he had to offer to his fans. Infront of
revellers, he introduced a Kenyan boy on stage. A boy that has seen
hardship in the hands of his father but has never given up on his
musical dreams and aspirations. A boy who felt that his only hope lay
with Akon. A boy brave enough to hold the mic, stand his ground infront
of thousands of people, and rap for the first time in his life before a
large live audience. After this kid's short and moving performance, Akon gets back on stage and announces that the kid is the latest addition to the Konvict music family
. Moving, huh?
That was not the maximum streatch of Akon's helping hand. He is done
with his show but he is still hanging around. "What for?" you ask. Well,
apparently Akon is still in the country and is planning to leave around
Wednesday next week, right after he has met with some of the Kenyan
artistes, possibly collaborate with a few, and definitely sign a little
bit more.
Akon's success story is one to encourage and motivate any youth that
has talent in art, and this is just the beginning of a Kenyan artiste's
success story that will be told some few years from now, after he/she
has made millions in the U.S. Hopefully.
