T.I. Talks André 3000 Verse, Retirement with ‘The Breakfast Club’

T.I. continued his book promo tour with a visit to “The Breakfast Club.” The King of the South maintained his composure while Charlamagne Tha God, Angela Yee, and DJ Envy fired off touchy questions about his career and rumored beefs. He also spoke about his collaboration with André 3000 on Trouble Man, why he won’t be retiring anytime soon, and whether he will resign with Atlantic Records after delivering his eighth album on December 18.

On his collaboration with André 3000, “Sorry”: “It’s the dopest 3000 verse outside of an OutKast album ever.”
On retiring: “That was a very selfish decision of me to make simply because there were some things that I was unhappy with.”
On having career longevity: “There’s a difference between being hot and being huge. If you hot, your record will spin in the club for a minute, but when the entire body of work is released, how many people want to listen to your entire album? Does your catalog support a one-hour-long show?”
On his rumored beef with Future: “All the tension that was going on backstage never made it to me. I’m proud of the youngster. He’s making a proper contribution to the uplifting of the city.”
On his tweet “Put your Maybach up”: “I wasn’t talking about nobody specifically. … If I’m dissing you, I’m doing other people too. I’m not dissing nobody.”
On his future at Atlantic Records: “I’m happy where I’m at if they’re happy to have me. I’d like to finish my career there if that’s possible, but that’s not up to me. That’s up to them.”
