Hip-hop rapper Snoop Dogg hivi majuzi alisema kuwa anataka kubadili jina lake na kuwa Snoop Lion na kuwa amezaliwa upya kwan anajiona kama Rastafarian aliyekamilika.

“Kwa sasa sitaki Snoop Dogg katika nyimbo zangu za reggae . . . Nataka kutoka kuitwa Snoop Dogg na kuja kuitwa Snoop Lion, but I didn’t know that until I went to the temple and received the name . . . from the . . . priest,” said the rapper also formerly known as Snoop Doggy Dog and nicknamed the “Doggfather.’’

Mkali huyo mwenye umri wa miaka 40 kwa sasa ambaye jina lake kamili ni Calvin Broadus, Jr., anaamini kwamba anakila chembechembe za Bob Marley ambaye ni muhasisi wa reggae na hataki kabisa kuja kuacha tamaduni hiyo.

Snoop alilipotiwa kuwa kwa sasa anataka kuja kuwa mkali wa reggae ambaye hata akifa aje akumbukwe kama Marehemu Bob Marley. ”Ni Jah,” alisema Snoop Lion.

Snoop Lion wants to make music that his grandkids can listen to. He thinks hip-hop and rap are for heathens.

Jamaica officials said that Snoop may have just smoked a bad batch of weed and that in a few months he’ll drop the lion and get back to the dogg.

“He’s really high right now,” said one Jamaican necklace salesman. ”He’ll come down by 2013 and be rapping again. We told him not to use the vaporizer.”

Jimmy Cliff and Ziggy Marley had the same reaction when told of Snoop Dogg’s name change. ”Who’s Snoop Dogg?”

Snoop Lion’s first album will be entitled “The Lion, The Bitch and the Jahrobe.”
