Monica’s ‘New Life’ Makes Top 5 Debut

Monica has a new lease on life and the Billboard charts. The R&B singer’s seventh album debuts in the top 5 this week.

New Life enters at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 with 69,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The project, which features her duet with Brandy “It All Belongs to Me,” marks her fifth straight top 10 set. Her previous album Still Standing landed at No. 2 with 184,000 in March 2010.

“What a blessing!! Thanks 2 everyone that supports NewLife,” tweeted a grateful Monica, who also holds the No. 2 spot on the R&B/Hip-Hop albums chart.

Elsewhere, Nicki Minaj’s sophomore set Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded drops to No. 3 in its second week with a 68% decline (81,000). It opened at No. 1 last week with 253,000 units sold.
