Lulu coming out of court
The famous actress Ms Elizabeth Michael Kimemeta alias Lulu, 17, a resident of Tabata in Kinondoni district in the city today before the Kisutu Resident Magistrate Court charged with one count of murdering the late Steven Kanumba.
Before resident magistrate Mr Augustino Mmbando, the suspect was said to murder the late Kanumba on April 7 this year at Sinza Vatican in Kinondoni district.
Reading the charge sheet, State Attorney Ms Elizabeth Kaganda told the court that the suspect who was known to be 18 years old is the leading suspect in the murder case, but Lulu entered a plea that she is not 18.
“Sorry your hounour I am not 18, my actual age is only 17 years old,” Lulu said after she was allowed to tell the court on what she wanted to say, Lulu who was brought to the court by a white Suzuki Grand Vitara car was calm as she stand before the Magistrate.
After reading the charges, she was not allowed to answer the charges basing on the fact that the court has no jurisdiction to hear murder cases, while Ms Kaganda told the court that investigations are under way.
This made Magistrate Mmbando to adjourn the case until April 23 this year when it will be brought for mentioning, meanwhile the accused has been taken to remand prison because her count is unbailable.
Dramas happened when she was brought at the court premises as it seems the Police officers did not want Lulu to neither be seen by the public nor be confronted with the media.
On the other side, the white Suzuki Grand Vitara beard a private number T 848 BVN but to show that those were not real numbers, its tinted mirrors were stamped Police numbers (PT 2565).
Steve Kanumba popularly known as ‘The Great’ died on the wee hours of Saturday after he fall in his room basing on what is said as ‘a quarrel with his girlfriend’ the accused.
He was taken to the Hospital by his doctor, a family member and a neighbor only to be told that the hero died on the spot after he badly injured his head.
One of the doctors who examined Kanumba’s body at Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) hinted that the actor died on the spot after suffering from brain concussion which is a severe brain damage that he collapsed and stopped breathing.
The incident is said to have occurred around 2:30am at the deceased home in Sinza Vatican in the city, after which he was rushed to MNH where he passed away.
His death touched so many from inside the country up to the West African countries, apart from those, President Jakaya Kikwete paid homage at the deceased home and gave a condolence of Sh 10 million.
During the burial ceremony day, most leaders were at the ground led by the Vice president Dr Mohamed Ghalib Bilal and various ministers together with higher ranking officials.
