Latest news from Uganda’s music industry is that self proclaimed music doctor Gaddafi Chameleone original names Joseph Mayanja has changed religion from being a Catholic to a Muslim. He is now called Dr Gaddafi Chameleone.
Yesterday Dr Gaddafi Chameleone attended Juma prayers at Kibuli Mosque fully clad in white Muslim attire with a black and white head cover. He was together with fellow musicians Haruna Mubiru and Grace Sekamatte.
This new development has surprised many as Gaddafi Chameleone was one of the well known catholic musicians in Uganda. He even married his wife Atim Daniela in a colourful wedding at Mbuya Catholic church a few years back. The real reason for this big change can only be told by Gaddafi Chameleone.
However this new development must not be a surprise as it relates to the actual meaning of his stage name Chameleone.
According to dictionary.com, a chameleon is a changeable, fickle or inconstant character.
Answers.com says that a chameleon is an animal characterized chiefly by their ability to change body colour.
Just like his name, Chameleone can surprise you at anytime.
Converting to Islam is not new among famous people. Internationally, this has been happening. For example footballers such as Nicholas Anelka, Eric Abidal and Frank Ribery all converted from Christianity to Islam a few years ago.
