Biography:
Natel was born in St. Ann, Jamaica on June 27, 1987. He is the son of Mr. Correl & Mrs. Leonie Hewitt. This union also produced his only sister, Ieasha Hewitt. He obtained his academic education at the Ocho Rios Basic School, Ocho Rios Primary School and at Knox College (in Manchester, Jamaica). This young legend ascends from a family of musicians.
At a tender age Natel was inspired by his father, Ras Correl Hewitt, to play the guitar. Ras Correl himself is a renowned lead guitarist! Earnest Ranglin, Ras Correl's cousin, is also recognized to be among the world's greatest guitarists! Naturally Natel wanted to be like his father and thus he once thought he was also going to be one of the greatest bass players of all times.
However God's plan for him was a bit different. His father, though, continues to be his mentor. . . At age 15 Natel was encouraged by his parents to enter a competition which promoted young and upcoming talents in the Caribbean: Digicel Rising Stars. Natel entered and became Nadine Southerland's (a recording artiste and one of the judges) wild card.
All dreams of becoming a top bass player changed after he discovered his true talent: singing. However this was no surprise since he is from a family which loves music! Since then he has been working to make his dream a reality. Natel is now the newest addition to the Grafton Studio family. Grafton Studio is known worldwide as home to the best musicians and artistes in reggae music and the outstanding young talent Natel has also found an inspiring and creative base there.
According to Mikey Bennett, Grafton had been looking for a singer like Natel for a very long time, a singer with a distinct voice and vocal abilities. With his talent, state of mind, creative energy, personality and hard work without a doubt he will achieve to his fullest potential by blessing everyone with some major hits and lasting quality music. Natel has many local fans and hopes to establish himself internationally.
His best friends and way of living are with microphones, stages, cameras, televisions, radios and studios. His singles are now in rotation on local radio stations, his dreams are finally on the way of becoming a reality. Natel is no longer a rising star, but an enterprising recording artiste, a celebrity and a role model. Natel is committed to the principle of life long learning. His motto is "Everything Happens for a Reason".
