Florida Bans Saggy Pants In Schools

After countless efforts to ban baggy pants in schools, Florida finally passed a bill called “Code of Student Conduct” on Monday mandating all schools to ban any student showing their underwear through their clothes. Officials feel showing a little thong and boxer at school is "distracting" and "trashy."

Students who break the rules will have a series of disciplines to endure: first violation excludes student from extra curricular activities; second violation brings in your parents; third violation is a three day in-school suspension with a 30 day exclusion from extra curricular activities.

Why they don't just force kids to wear uniforms to avoid all of this is beyond me.
Commonly known as the "baggy pants bill," Senate bill 228 will require district school boards to adopt a stricter dress code and punish students who violate it. Boys may have to say goodbye to saggy pants, while girls may have to opt out of wearing low-rise jeans.

"For girls, especially with your underwear showing, that's really trashy and it could send the wrong message and that could be very dangerous," said Kaloma Smith.

But some believe the government should spend more time on things like fixing the economy and creating jobs, and spend less time on fashion trends.

"I think it's kind of very low on my list of things that should be taken care of as far as government issues," said Andrew Khaleghipour.

Senator Siplin says he continues to push the idea because he believes teaching students good habits at a young age will ultimately help them become mature, responsible adults in the future.

One technique that might give off the same results can be, oh, i don't know...INCREASING EDUCATIONAL FUNDING!

I bet if teachers knew they wouldn't get fired for lack of federal funding, they might start to care a little bit more. Another way to get the same result might be GIVING TEACHERS RAISES! Also, 17 high schollers getting pregnant at the same time is more of a distraction than sporting a little thong. And that can all be resolved if schools taught protected sex in their health classes.

I think the baggy pants law is really for teachers who might grow sexually interested in their students, which is terrible, but affects less students in comparison to poor school funding across the country.
