Jason Derulo’s undeniably strong promotional train pulled into the Dancing With The Stars studio last night. There the 20 year old hit the stage to perform his hit ‘In My Head’.
Peep his performance after the jump…
Hot sizzling mess.
Yet again, Derulo served up a text-book example of simply doing too much. Despite being at a stage in his career where he should be honing the basics (see: vocals, stage presence, connection with audience); he instead seems intent on pushing this ’showstopper’ angle – yet is falling oh-so flat while doing so. From the frog-like vocals, to complete lack of breath-control, to the painfully embarrassing Michael Jackson impersonation, it’s just all too much.
In all fairness to Derulo, he gets an ‘A’ for effort; for he shouldn’t be knocked for having the desire to be a force. However, it needs to be understood that the MJ’s, Usher’s and co really took time to perfect their craft – essentially growing into the performers they are. Derulo, on the other hand, seems to want to be that all-rounder straight out of the gate, despite not possessing anywhere near the required ability at this point. As the age-old adage goes: “what good is it being a jack of all trades, yet a master of nothing?”. This being something Jason may want to consider…
