According to the Miami Herald, victims of a Gainsville, Florida shooting are filing a lawsuit against Atlantic Records and their artist, Plies.
The five victims filed the suit on Wednesday (March 3) in Alachua County Circuit Court and claim Plies and the label have been profiting from the incident since 2006. In April of 2008, Plies (born Algernod Washington) was sued for $10 million for the same incident.
Ronell Lavatte, the rapper’s sibling and Tony Carnegie, a member of his entourage, are being labeled as the culprits who fired into the club crowd. Both were charged with attempted murder. After pleading no contest to the charges, Lavatte served three years behind bars.
Plies and Atlantic Records have yet to comment on the suit.
