Sherri Shepherd looked happy as she posed for photographers in New York City today. The 47-year-old former co-host of ABC’s The View is estranged from husband Lamar Sally who recently welcomed their son, L.J., born via a surrogate. “I never thought in a million years she would turn her back on L.J.,” Sally told People magazine. The 44-year-old scriptwriter told People he happily donated his sperm when Shepherd expressed a desire to have a baby (via a surrogate). “I didn’t think twice about it,” he said.

But their happy home life unraveled quickly when, in April, Sally said he was blindsided by Shepherd’s demand for a divorce. “This is six months into the pregnancy, and I’m just like, ‘Really?’ She said, ‘We’ll co-parent. We’ll work it out.’”

The baby arrived in August but Sally says he has not heard from Shepherd. He said she recently took him off of her insurance.

“I think it’s the worst thing in the world for L.J. to look at his birth certificate at 16 and see it says ‘Mother unknown,’” he said.

Sally is filing paperwork to force Shepherd to pay child support. Sally has refused a one-time offer from Shepherd for $100,000.
