Ne-Yo explained to Honey Magazine earlier this week that the title of his forthcoming album Libra Scale was actually a “short story that I wrote and all the songs on the album are inspired by that story.” He went on to say that “they are going to tell the story through videos and that they would be 7-10 minutes long.”
He’s calling them mini-movies. The acting wouldn’t be bad if they had just labeled it a music video. You expect music video acting to be cheezy. But since they want to label it a mini-movie, the acting is well… I’ll let you be the judge.
Whoa… she had to be a beautiful monster for Ne-Yo to momentarily go without his signature hat. I still don’t like this song but the graphics in this video were ill. The dance sequences gave me a lot of Michael Jackson “Smooth Criminal” so I enjoyed watching. The first time I heard the record I thought in my head, “MJ would have killed this.” I wonder if this is one of the songs Ne-Yo was pitching to him before his untimely death and then decided to record for himself.
Now I’ve loved “Champagne Life” since the first time I heard the record and with the first video ending with an appearance from Columbus Short, I was on the edge of my computer screen in excitement to see where the story would go next. Trust this is no Stomp the Yard. More like a hood version of The Matrix but I can dig it.
This record is just so sexy and the video continues with that ambiance because there is nothing sexier then men suited up. I need Ne-Yo to hit Eb with an invite the next time he wants to have a get together like this.
